"Saint Peter’s University Hospital has been working with Wainscot Media to produce Middlesex Health & Life beginning with our July 2007 issue. The publication was immediately well received (having Bon Jovi as the cover story in our inaugural issue caused quite a sensation) and has since become a well-recognized component of our overall marketing program. It is a highly effective means to support and expand upon our strategic marketing initiatives. Although we don’t have extensive data to directly support reader response, our Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Oxygen Services reported 13 new admissions following the publication of their “Tech Savvy” article.
Internally, the magazine has generated a great deal of good will. The October 2008 issue, for example, was dedicated to our oncology services and featured a special two-page pull-out photo of our Breast Care Team. The director of Ambulatory Oncology Services tells us that issue has reinforced camaraderie among the team and that our physicians are especially proud to be acknowledged and complimented by physicians outside oncology circles and outside of Saint Peter’s. We also turned the pull-out photo into a billboard, which we strategically placed in our busy downtown area. According to the director, “We’re the talk of the town.” In a market that is highly competitive for cancer treatment, the magazine and billboard have been a real promotional windfall.
Middlesex Health & Life is beautifully designed, production is of the highest quality, and it is a publication Saint Peter’s is proud to have our name on. Wainscot editors and artists are always willing to try new ideas and approaches to an issue. A perfect example was their willingness to accommodate our request for a dedicated oncology issue and pull-out photo—diversion in both layout and editorial format. They adjusted the publication style to suit our editorial goals, while still maintaining a consistent publication."
